FAQ’s

  • Do you have a project that requires crossing the canal? If so you need to contact the general manager and get a canal crossing agreement to proceed. 
  • Can I add or remove a board that’s in a check in the canal if I have to much water or not enough water??  NO! You can not add/remove boards in checks at anytime!
  • Can I take the canal roads as a short cut to my family/friends house because its faster? No the canal roads are owned by farmers and/or Bear River Canal Company. They are not for public access.
  • If a shareholder gets remarried or divorced and wants to add or remove a name on there account how do they go about doing that? There are two different options you can pick up a transfer form at the office or option 2 is go to brcanal.com fill out and print off the transfer form and bring it back signed and notarized!
  • How do I update my Contact information? Call 435-257-5975 or email bearrivercanalfd@gmail.com with the correct information.
  • Can I put a fence on the canal by my property? No you can not install fences on canal property or on canal easements, if you have questions regarding fences please contact BRCC Office
  • Where do you get transfer forms? @brcanal.com or at Bear River Canal Company Office 
  • Can I ride my atv and dirtbike in the canal when its empty? NO!! motorized vehicles are not allowed in the canal at anytime!
  • Can I let my livestock drink out of the canal or pump water out for them?!? Nope. Water must go through a headgate on your scheduled time.
  • Please Do not leave your garbage, dirt, left over lawn clippings, clay, tree/limbs, old vegetables, and dead animals in or on the canal!
  • I just moved here and I don’t know how to get my water! What should I do?? Find out what your headgate number is, and turn the headgate on at the canal, while turning as it gets harder STOP please don’t force it. Headgates are set and have lock wheels to only open so far. Another way to find out is to ask and talk to your neighbors:))
